Parish Administrator

Location: St Andrew’s, Thornhill Square, London
Hours:
Part-Time (21 hours per week)
Salary: £16,800 per annum (£28,000 FTE)
Closing date: 9th February 2025

Role:

You will support two churches half a mile apart: St Andrew’s, Thornhill Square, and Church on the Corner. The Administrator is often the first contact people have with the parish, so the role requires a cheerful, friendly, well-organised person. You will be enthusiastic about our mission and extending God’s welcome to those you encounter in your work. You will have initiative, in-depth experience in office organisation and systems, excellent IT skills and a “can do” attitude. You will thrive working with and contributing to a team that includes clergy, a part-time premises manager, a part-time finance officer, a part-time operational support administrator, a part-time children’s worker, and volunteers. You will be expected to develop and implement our administrative processes and procedures to ensure smooth, efficient and effective Church office operations across our two churches.

About the church:

The parish has a welcoming and inclusive ethos. Our parish straddles the Caledonian Road and is home to different communities. We love its diversity and the fact that people from every area of the local community join together for worship. There is a lot of mobility, and we are used to situations where people come to our church for a relatively short period before moving to another part of London. Those who have made their permanent home in our church family see their role as ministering to and supporting people here for a short time.
There are two churches within the parish:
Church on the Corner is a church for people who might not usually attend church. The church is an old pub! Our services are simple, thoughtful, and welcoming. Our worship is a blend of traditional and contemporary, and possibly our most fantastic resource is the community. St Andrew's, built in 1854, has a traditional-looking tower and spire, and the church was built in the centre of Thornhill Square, surrounded by gardens. Although the worship is varied, it is primarily liturgical, with organ music for Sunday hymns. The church is currently on the National Heritage at Risk Register, so plans are underway to undergo a major restoration and renewal project.
