We were sad to hear the news that Her Majesty the Queen passed away on Thursday 8th September. This makes some of the words from Ecclesiastes 3 in our latest article, even more poignant for the national season that we are now in. On behalf of the UCAN team, I'd like to pay tribute to our monarch who provided a great example of loving, compassionate servant leadership over 7 decades. If only more world leaders could follow suit, to be so overtly influenced by an authentic and transformational relationship with Jesus Christ, the world would be a better place.
Please join us in praying for the Royal Family and the nation, and giving thanks for the life of Elizabeth R. We have a privileged position as churches to help support the country at this moment and to draw attention to the Queen's faith which has provided steadfastness and hope for the country.
Our UCAN team will be praying for you all as you prepare for your 'London Bridge' arrangements, times of mourning, condolence, tribute, and commemoration. As always, if you need support or guidance, please visit the UCAN member's forum, email in, or consult your denominational guidance. (Lots of helpful resources have been produced by the main denominations.)
Our prayer:
Father, we thank you for the life of HM Queen Elizabeth II. We thank you that she proclaimed her faith in you, honoured the life of your son in her words and actions, and has forever changed our nation for the better. May she enjoy rest and intimacy in the presence of Jesus today, hearing 'well done, good and faithful servant'. We pray for our King, Charles III. Help him to lead well, in the image of his mother, growing to know more of you Lord, each day. Meet him in his need, with comfort, love, grace, and wisdom. Amen
